Astrid Lundgren, Head of School
Ms. Astrid Lundgren earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and her master’s degree in administration and supervision from the University of Houston-Victoria. She possesses over 25 years of education and leadership experience. Her career began when she took a position as an elementary teacher in a public school in south Texas. Later she became a middle school administrator and then was promoted to high school administrator.
Ms. Lundgren retired from the public education system in 2015 and found that she deeply missed education and children. Her love for learning coupled with her understanding that the foundation for education begins at an early age led her to pursue a job in the preschool world. She became a Preschool Director for a Montessori school and it was there that she fell in love with the pedagogy. She was pleased to discover that the Montessori approach values the development of the whole child and aims to foster children’s independence as they explore new knowledge. She is honored to serve as a Guidepost Montessori Head of School, where she can widen the reach of this educational approach.
In her free time, Ms. Lundgren enjoys spending time with family, especially her two grandchildren, as well as reading and traveling.
